It all started when Victoria Secret model after Victoria Secret model proclaimed their secret was boxing. From there, the trend took off. Typically thought of as a manly workout, Rumble Boxing takes a masculine boxing gym and turns it upscale and feminine. The workout consists of ten three minute rounds, alternating between bags and floor for forty-five minutes.
Because the classes are full, Rumble does not teach you technique or form, so if you are trying to take up boxing as a sport, this class is not for you. That being said, Rumble is easy to follow along. The class uses screens in the front of the room, depicting the combos per round. So, if you get lost, you can look towards the screens.
The class is dark and the music is loud. The instructor takes command on a stage, as though he is DJing a top club. The energy is definitely palpable. The class is designed to be fun, so it can be a little gimmicky, while still trying to be badass. This can be annoying, but it remains fun.
The punching bags are water bags, so they are easier on your knuckles. However, this means they are easier to punch and more prone to swinging back and forth than the standard punching bags. The floor part of the workout is hard, and I enjoy this part of the class more. If you are a seasoned athlete, I would say skip this class if you are looking to challenge yourself. But, if you are looking for a quick, fun workout this class is for you.
